Everyone at McGrady Insurance is delighted to announce our continued support for the NI Rally Championship as Main Sponsor of the event in 2022. This is our 15th year of consecutive sponsorship for the rally and our 30th year of support for motorsport in Northern Ireland.
This year, the sponsorship will cover the five main championship events, a partnership that extends to the three-event Forest Challenge.
The dates of the events are as follows:
NI Championship
1.Kirkistown Stages 19/2
2.Bishopscourt Stages 12/3
3.Maiden City Stages 21/5
4.Tyrone Stages 4/6
5.Down Rally 23/7
NI Forest Challenge
- Fivemiletown Rally 26/2
- Lakeland Forest Stages 3/9
- Bushwacker Forest Stages 17/9
The sponsorship agreement is born of Fintan McGrady’s passion for motorsport and deep involvement in the rallying community in Northern Ireland. Fintan has been a rally participant for over 45yrs in various classes, most recently in a Modified class 7 car. This year he will participate in the rally in a class 1 Historic Car and is as enthusiastic as ever about his involvement.
“The motorsport community in Northern Ireland is a tight-knit and loyal band of enthusiasts which I have had the pleasure of being supported by - in both sport and business,” Fintan said.
“I’m delighted to support the NI Rally Championship as a way of giving back to the community that has made such an important contribution to McGrady Insurance over the years.”
The 2022 championship looks set to be another strong year, with many participants making use of the ‘Covid lay-off’ to change to more modern machinery in the R5 models or upgrade the specification of their existing car.
The quality of drivers also continues to improve, and it looks like it will be an exciting championship to race, watch and follow.
“Under the careful guidance of experienced Championship co-ordinator Graeme Stewart, we can be sure of the quality of each event,” added McGrady Insurance MD, Aidan Hughes. “And we would like to thank all the participating motor clubs, officials, sponsors, and marshals without whom the Championship could not take place.”
The Downpatrick based insurance firm also acknowledges and thanks the people who live along the respective rally routes for their understanding and patience and their permission to allow the event to happen.
